Description

Description: The 50 foot tall statue named “Dignity” now stands on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River at Chamberlain, SD. It depicts a young Lakota woman wrapping a star quilt around her shoulders. Norm and Eunabel McKie of Rapid City donated money to fund the project, while South Dakota Artist Laureate Dale Lamphere brought their dream to reality. The statue, on land donated by the state, is visible to millions who drive across South Dakota on I-90. SDPB recorded the dedication ceremony on September 17, 2016. Music, speakers and prayers from a variety of South Dakota cultures were offered in celebration of the dedication of the artwork. DVD contains the entire dedication ceremony. Run time: approx. 98 minutes.
